Welcome to my Web site. My name is Alan Chandler, but I am also known to the flight simulation community as Magpie. I want to show you some of the things I am interested in and hopefully generate a bit of discussion.
This is the third version of my site. This last version has been a long time coming as I never seem to get round to the task of updating it. Well now its done and here it is. I hope you like it.

How I built my own PC |

One of my main hobbies is just plain fiddling with PCs. I recently took the plunge and built my own PC from individual parts. This section is dedicated to what I had to learn to do that and to explain some of the decisions I took along the way. I also learnt a few lessons that meant I will do it differently next time (I am sure there will be a next time) and have shared them with you. |

Mainly Flight Sims |

When I stop fiddling with my PC long enough to use it, I normally play games with it. Most of the time I fly flight simulators but occasionally I find another game that catches my attention. This area of my site is dedicated to various bits of knowledge I have picked up about them, some downloads and, where appropritate, links to related sites. |

Grand Prix Legends |

I haven't stopped playing Grand Prix Legends since I got it so
 I just have to include this program on my web site. Its not a flight simulation of course (unless of course you are at the Flugplatz in the Nurburgring <VBG>) but the combination of graphics, simulation accuracy and on-line racing make this a game not to be missed. |

My Work |

I work for Logica, a computer systems integrator, in the Energy and Utilities division. I have done so for over 25 years, in a number of different roles, and am currently a principal consultant with particular responsibility for marketing our experience into the newly emerging market in continental Europe (see my CV). This is related to the major change in the way you and I have been able to buy our electricity in the UK from September 1998. The details of this are explained here. |
